VDL Groep Cannelina

VDL Groep Cannelina was successful in the international sport with Eric van der Vleuten. Besides many placings in competitions up to Grand Prix-level, this mare developed herself as a true Derby-specialist. Sportive highlights of VDL Groep Cannelina are the victory in the Indoor Derby of ‘s Hertogenbosch, the second place in the VDL Groep Derby of Eindhoven and she won courses like the 1.45m in Chantilly, 1.45m in Braunschweig and 1.40m in Geesteren.

Her sire Carthago showed his excellent qualities on the highest level with Jos Lansink and joined the Olympic Games of Atlanta and Sydney. Also in breeding Carthago was an ‘one-of-a-kind’, he produced wellknown offspring like Mylord Carthago, Cash, Cicero and Caya but is even more reknown for his outstanding mares. Many Grand Prix-horses and approved stallions have a Carthago-dam.

VDL Groep Cannelina is a product of the Holsteiner damline 4025, and that makes her related to the famous Olympic champion Classic Touch (s.Caletto II) of Ludger Beerbaum. Dam Hilka I is also dam of the international showjumper Constant Surprise (s.Contender), who was successful with Daniel Moseley and Claire Doty. Damsire Sir Shostakovich xx brings in some valuable thoroughbred-genes. The international jumpingstallion Cassio III (s.Cassini I), ridden by Matthew Boddy and Joseph Clayton, is bred out of an halfsister of Cannelina’s granddam Wilka.
